What does it actually mean by Productivity? Definition, Advantages
Achieving goals, and progress toward the ideal future both are tied to the ability to execute the plan. Execution happens when you act according to the plan. To achieve goals, consistent, focused execution is required. Here, productivity takes place.
Definition of Productivity
Productivity is not working for prolonged hours but executing more in less duration. A productive person solves more problems, with better effectiveness and efficiency in minimum duration. The specific duration of the productive phase is called “Productive Hours”.
In self-development, building productive habits is a huge advantage in work ethic. With better productivity, a person gains optimum energy supply, concentration, and efficiency in work within productive hours.
Efficiency in work impacts professional development. In short,
“Productivity habits build self-esteem, self-satisfaction, and development in personal and professional life. It improves overall lifestyle through physical, mental, and financial growth.”
Advantages of a Productive Lifestyle
A productive phase of a person combines the mind and body. In this phase, the brain has the ability to:
· Work at optimum focus
· Process information with accuracy & speed
· Make better decision
The body
· Supplies maximum stamina
· Feels minimum fatigue
· Capable to work faster & smoother
However, productivity does come only by choice but by habits. To be productive, a person needs to build productive habits. For building productive habits, daily routines need to be optimized. An optimized daily routine for productivity gives the ability to identify the “Productive Hours”.
Exercise habits, dietary habits, sleep habits, and working hours (Time frame in a day) affect productive ability. Let’s see how several habits improve Productivity directly.
Exercise habits improve
- Blood circulation, concentration
- Stamina to work with efficiency
- Strength, endurance, and power to work heavier, longer, and faster
- Better cardiovascular health(Heart & Lungs)
Dietary Habits improve
- Energy supply: It builds stamina
- Overall immune system & prevention of illness
- Sleep quality & mood regulation
Sleeping habits improve
- Ability to focus
- Recovery & Relaxation
- Digestion
- Neuro-plasticity (Ability to learn)
In addition, optimizing working hours helps to identify the “Optimum productive hours” for an individual. Although working hours vary one can pay attention to behaviour during work.
In general, the first 6 hours work as the most energetic hours for a person with a controlled diet & sufficient sleep. A controlled diet refers to dinner before 1.5 to 2 hours of sleep, drinking water before bed, and avoiding fast, junk foods. Sleep duration varies with gender and age. 5–6 hours of sleep is suggested. Later, we will add more scientific papers about sleep, and diet.
Therefore, the ability to work & concentrate with optimum capacity comes with optimizing exercise, dietary, and sleeping habits. Forcing productivity without paying attention to these habits will cause failure.
